I have been reading about the freediving courses, and have been wondering if that would be the best option to improve my depth and bottom time while spearfishing?

I can see that half the intermediate course fits very well, but the other half focuses more on the competitive freediving and would not be so usefull to someone with only speargunning in mind.

I can do 2:40 being static in a pool and can go down to 75 feet, on a touch and go basis, but would like to do a little better.

Hola Alex

I been spearfishing for many years. Then I took a freediving course last year and It realy help me.

It will help you to improve time and depth for sure, and It will add a lot of safty to your dives.

I took my course with Aharon and MT Solomon at Punta Coyote, north of Bahia de La Paz. As many freedivers, they enjoy spearfishing too, so they know what you are asking for.

You can read about them, or their articles in this forum, or visit their web page FREEDIVERS

BTW where are you spearfishing???

There are some guys in Mexico city who use to train for freediving, could be useful for you to find some budys to keep the shape.

Saludos

Carlos

Hi Carlos, thanks for your repply.

I dive most of the time in Ixtapa, but have recently been diving in Baja. I visited your webpage and found it amazing.

What do you spear in Baja, are you in Ensenada? I'm planning on returning probably in November again, but I mainly do the islands from La Paz all the way up to Loreto, on the way up I also try to dive Careyes, and all the interesting sites in the Pacific.

Thanks for the info, are you Mexican as well?

Alex
