Hi all,

I've been mostly diving but want to explore free diving as well so is there any masks that I can use for both?

I've been using the Tusa M-23QB for the longest time and it has some of the best viewing angles and has really low volume for a diving mask however, I was wondering if there are lighter, lower volume masks that are more compact and have just as good viewing angles?

My preferences are towards masks that have:

1. Comfort/fit.
2. The best possible downward viewing angles to check all my gear and gauges.
3. Smallest possible volume and can be folded.

The masks I've short listed are:
1. Omer Zero
2. Picasso Diamond
3. Picasso Must
4. Mares X-VU Liquidskin Spear Fishing Mask
5. Cressi Ocean Eyes Mask (looks goofy though)
6. Cressi Occhio Plus (looks goofy though)

On a side note I already have these other masks:
1. Tusa M-23QB (best fitting, best viewing mask but is a but doesn't fold flat)
2. Picasso Nulla mask (too small it barely fits on my face)
3. Cressi Lince (too small as well)
4. Cressi Matrix (fit is near perfect cept it looks goofy and it doesn't really fold flat)

Many thanks

I like the Micromask personally but there are others too, just search in the forum. Out of curiosity why do you need low volume on scuba?

Thanks for the info I'll go check up the Micromask.

As I said I want a mask to do both diving and freediving.

I second the micromask... or the m99 mask that is a copy and can by bought at canamuwhgear.com or equalpuck.com cheap... this is my suggestion.

I also love the Sporasub Mystic... it fits a large range of faces.

if the lince is too small... try the Cressi Matrix - it's a larger version and has great downward vision.

The Beauchat MaxLux can work for both purposes as well.... I'm just hesitant to take a single lens mask deep in CWT for fear that it cracks... altho I'm sure that's unfounded... esp because I have pressure-sensitive sinuses...

Thanks but I already have the matrix has no one tried out the other masks I mentioned?

Looks like the micro is very high on the list but can it be folded flat?

Choice of mask depends a lot on how deep you are diving. Roughly 12 m or less, low volume is not very important. Larger volume masks my fit better and have better field of view. How deep do you plan to freedive?

20 m is enough for me to need a low volume mask. The one that fits well and has the lowest volume consistent with how good a field of vision you need.

Hi guys,

I tried out the micromask yesterday and it DOESN'T fit... Sigh.

Looks like I need some masks that are more asian suited. Problue seems like a great mask for asian faces like the nero mirrored mask. Any reviews please?

I like the mystic myself... As the silicone is soft and fits a wide variety of faces.

The Sphera (and the glass version, the Falco) is a wider fitting mask that suits flat faces as well as wide faces. Perhaps the Falco would be a good compromise of vision and volume for you. I play UWH with Asian ppl that use these masks.

I would suggest trying a superocchio as well, as it fits a large variety of faces and is pretty good for volume.

The Beauchat MaxLux is a great single lens, low volume/ high visibility mask for med to wide faces, but the silicone isn't super flexible and as such might be a bit more temperamental and doesn't fit narrow faces well.

Hi Apneaddict,

Thanks for your advice, I did try the Falco and it fit ok so I'm going back to check it out again. The problem for us asians is a lot of low volume masks are too small for our faces or fit really badly.

Anyway, the other option are masks made by Problue, IST or scubapro as these seem to fit Asian faces better.

I recently tried the Problue 'Stalker' Mask with mirrored lens and the silicon skirt was fantastically soft and comfortable.

If the Problue 'Tiara 2' Mask - Reflective Lens and Problue 'Nero' Mask - Reflective Lens - Black are anything similar the nero reflective mask will be a winner. Plus they both fold flat.

Also newer Atomic masks like the subframe has the same soft silicon as the problue that it actually pressed against my forehead when I had the straps on yet it was so comfy still.
