Hi!
Im totally new to free diving but hoping to try somewhere to try it out either in dorset or hampshire.

Any ideas of where to look or who to go with??

Thanks

Georgie

Hi Georgie,

Did you find any freediving clubs in Hampshire in the end? I have just moved here from Australia and am keen to keep my freediving training going.

thanks
Phil

I don't know about freediving clubs but there are several spearfishing clubs in the south. There used to be a freediving club called Saltwater which, ironically, often used the Vobster inland quarry. Freediving seems to operate around professional training courses. DeeperBlue sometimes puts courses together, often with well known instructors. I believe there was a session at Gosport in Hampshire a few years ago which used the submarine escape training tower pool. If you "hang out" in the freediving area, I expect you'll find out what's going on and available ;)

Welcome to DB.

Posting in the UK Regional Sub-Forum is a good place to start!

You'll also find that the British Freediving Association has lots of info on courses. The SETT (Submarine Escape Training Tank) that @Mr. X referred to has been closed to the public for quite a while now so most Freediving is done in Quarries or the Sea.

We also advertise courses with Emma Farrell on http://www.freedivingcourses.com with 2014 dates coming very shortly.
