I'm looking at omer and sporasub fins but they all start with size 38-40. I wonder if they would fit me - I have shoesize 37. I can not try the fins on since there is no shop around here and I would have to order them online and the shipping cost is quite high. It would be really bad to order them only to find out they don't fit.
Also what kind of fins would you recommend for freediving - not exactly going for depth, just more for fun, taking pictures and also probably lots of surface swimming. The omer bat 25 ocean mimetic look very interesting to me.

Hope someone can help...

me too! i am also a 37 , and use the sporasub 38 with 3mm socks. works for me :)

Hello

My girlfriend had the same problem.
Her shoe size is 36. But she bought a 38 Omer with a 3mm socks.
It seems to be OK.

Thanks, that's great news for me. Now I only have to decide between omer and sporasub

Let me help you - Omer Ice fins. If nothing else, it's the best looking fins :)

Socks are helpful when wearing an oversized fin- my Sporasub 38-40's require a pair of socks. In some ways, it's better to need socks, either for warmth or to cushion your feet, as some footpockets are not comfortable on the inside. If your fins are still loose with socks, you can anchor them on with fin keepers, or something of a similar nature.

Try using the search function for feedback on Omer and Sporasub fins. I can only speak for the Sporasubs, since those are the only longfins I've tried. They get the job done :).

(im the same with my bifis too, but cant fit a 7mm sock.)

I love small feet !!! rofl :inlove

hi. i'm facing the same problem with a size 37 feet. should i wear it with 5mm or 3mm socks? (i can't try them on) leisurepro says even a 5mm sock is not going to help. :( oh, i'm planning to get the 38-40 omer millennium, simply because its the only fin with a smaller size.

I too am a 36/37 foot. Socks work well in cold water, I used to wear my 5mm Elios socks with the 38-40 Omer Millennium in 8C water. The fit was tight and my feet would suffer with the cold and the lack of blood circulating (maybe that was the MDR though :)).
Now I freedive in warm water, 30C so I went to Special fins and they made me a foot pocket that fits my foot perfectly without me having to wear socks. I now wear the same Omer Millennium foot pocket but they have cut and shaped the back of the foot pocket and glued a strap around the heel...so essentially turning a closed heel foot pocket into an open heel one. They are still a little wide, but in length they are perfect. I now realise what a huge difference wearing socks made on my fin kick too...as in without socks I find it is a lot easier and I don't have to kick as hard. None of the energy created from my leg movement is lost in 5mm neoprene.

silkyshark - can you post a pic of your custom footpocket? I'd be interested to see what they did to it. Thanks.

Here are some pics of my foot pockets. I measured my feet and Special Fins made the adjustments to the exact size.
They did a really good job at filing & shaping the rubber down on the cut foot pocket so that it is comfortable. I am very pleased with the result.

Btw the blades are the Special Fins Hybrid carbon/kevlar and they are just gorgeous! And rugged enough to be checked in when I fly :)

That's a very interesting idea. I've been thinking about trying to add some sort of strap to one of my pairs of footpockets to snug them up just a bit without having to use finkeepers. This has given me some ideas. Thanks for posting the pics!

Two quick comments. If you wear sox for warmth, they work almost the same on the outside of the foot pocket and also act as fin-keepers. A velcro strap around the small part of the foot pocket is easy to tighten for the one target dive and also makes a great keeper. It 'stiffens' the blades a little and makes the foot pocket smaller, too.

Bill - so how does that work? Cut the toe off the sock and slip it over the footpocket?

That's almost it. You need a few sizes bigger to do it right and use the toe cutoff ( on the inside) to plug the front of the foot pocket and protect the toes. Worked OK in the winter with 50 (9) degree water. That way you can use one foot pocket for any temp.
