Freediving Floater ?

Hi

Where can I buy a freediving training floater ?
I already know the one Martin is selling ( FII ) ... was just wondering if there are any other choices also avaible

I have Martins float and must say it is very good and sturdy.
 
I'm using the boat cushion ($12) with diving flag from Mako speargun shop ($6?). It can hold me in the water, very compact for travel and pretty much non-destractable since it have soft foamy stuff inside. Just an idea...
 
I am planning to make my buoy/floater myself but i'm wondering how much weight i need to put on the line if you want to use it for FIM? When you buy a buoy how much weight is included?
 
no weight comes with the bouy. We use a heavy brake disk as plate/weight. About 10Kg is all most of these round floats will manage in choppy seas with 4 freedivers holding on to the side straps on the surface. 10Kg really is not enough for FIM but it will do.
 
Has anyone made a buoy themselves? I would be greatful if those could share the design of their buoy. So that I could optimise my own design for the better.
 
I use a 10l plastic barrel, climbing rope and just round weights. You can attach your barrel very good with a musketon (i don't know the proper name but google it and you will understand ). It's also very handy to use a pulley, with a pulley it's easier to get your weights back up...

Maybe you can do something with this: Make a buoy for your digicam
 
I use boat sits, they have convenient straps to carry it on the back for long walks to diving destinations, tie the line to the gun, keep extra gun and\or extra weight. I also modify it to install diving flag from Mako spearguns into it. I can post a picture if nessesary...
 
I use a doughnut like they pull behind a speed boat for the kids. A local sailmaker punched an reinforced the canvas on the bottom and a garden hose reel site in the middle to keep the rope tidy. You still need to pull the rope up and ideally have another person winding up the slack. The weight I use is from the base of a lamp but definitly need more for fim.
 
I like the hose winder idea Feargus, very creative! Try the old brake disk idea for weights/plate, I'm sure the local scrappies will have 'em
