Looking for someone interested in regular freedives from Big Sur to Monterey. Spearfishing, jade hunting, or just digging the deep.

Preferably local.

Big Sur to Monterey Freediving

Hi MTY,

I'm interested if you don't mind a beginner tagging along. I'm in the process of putting my gear together (just need weights, booties and gloves) and I'll be diving regularly - nearly every weekend.

Cheers,

Gary

Cool - I should have all my gear by Friday. I plan on diving on Saturday if the weather cooperates!

I am monitoring this thread...and was wondering if you guys have gone spearfishing yet. I would like to join in if I can sometimes.

Hi Cingene,

I don't spearfish yet because I've just started freediving. After I get comfortable in the water I do plan on trying it so perhaps we can hunt together sometime.

Cheers,

DiverDown

I am trying to get my gills wet again as well. Two years after living in the Azores and I haven't gone back in the water as of late, except for a snorkel in the haze twice in Carmel. I checked out Tomales Bay and it looked pretty promising. The 19th of April, a couple of people at work and I are going to go for Abs up north more towards Elk. I will have to check out the sight this guy is talking about. San Diego is also in mind in April. Hope everything works out.

We will have to hook up sometimes and do some spearfishing.

Marcos

The Halibut are In

Who's with us?

Went out last week, I got skunked, but my partner got a pretty nice 10 1/2 lb halibut.

Hi:

Saw your post about freediving from Big Sur to Monterey. I'm more into scuba and underwater video than freediving; however, I'd be interested in videoing you spearfishing or jade diving. I live down in Laguna Beach, but, I'd be willing to travel there to get footage of that kind of freediving activity. if you are interested, drop me a line.
