I'm heading down to Honduras in April to Scuba dive, but wanted to take freediving lessons while I'm down there. Not sure whether to go to Utila or Roatan. I know that both islands have instructors, just not sure which location would be better. Has anyone been diving down there, and if so, what would you recommend?

You will have to head over to Utila.
There is a school there named Apnea Total
The instructor is great and passionate. He will teach you all you need to know.
Definitely worth it.

Also, when you're there, take a walk to Coral View and just snorkel off the shore.

Scuba diving and lodging is also cheaper than on Roatan.

Hi John, in Roatan we have close to perfect conditions to train and explore the reef, see marine life..
I teach AIDA courses through InnerSea, as well as coaching and offer you my experience as a competitive freediver. We also hold an international competition in May, the Caribbean Cup, where I ranked second this year. Please let me know what your objectives are and I'm sure I can help you with any aspect of your dives.
We don't have any depth limit in Roatan and the island is much more quite.
If you are interested, we can also offer you freediving sessions with reef sharks.
Cheers,
Walid.

Thanks, Walid...Sorry for the late response. If I get down there I'll be in touch.
