Freediving/Spearfishing in Peniche, Portugal

Hi guys,

The 2nd time we go to Peniche, (well near peniche, Sao martinho do porto to be exact,) and I was wondering if anyone knows some good spearfishing/freediving spots in the area. Last year I didn't find any of them, but I did see one spearo on Baleal peninsula. Also, can anyone tell me if you need a license etc etc? And what length of speargun?

Baleal is good but the current can be really strong there so be careful. Sao martinho, if your standing in the bay looking out to sea the left side of the rocks is good all the way down to foz do arelho.

Hello,

Not sure if you can do any spearfishing at Berlengas Islands (you can get a boat from Peniche to the islands) but the diving there seems to be amazing.

I am a beginner and never actually tried it there but saw some videos of the area and it seems very good.
