Hello everyone,
I'm on a hollyday in Cyprus for two weeks, and I'm in dire need of some nice freediving spots. I found on the internet two shore diving locations in the area that might also be good for freediving (sheep dip, octopus reef) but the exact locations remain a mistery.

Can someone direct me to them or to other good spots in the area. I have a hired car, but no boat, so I'm looking just for spots that can be reached by swimming from the shore.

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

I am living in Protaras in Cyprus (near Aiya Napa and Paralimni) for 8 weeks and have found a few nice spots...

I am relatively new to free diving, but have found some nice dives quite close to shore in pernera.

If you are near protaras, there is a new small area called pernera, and a bar (with pool) called 'blue spice' near the 'anastacia hotel'.
You can see a beach from these places, and if you go to this beach, and bear left along the coast to the next beach/cove, there is a brilliant free diving spot about 20-45 feet deep as you swim out.

Let me know if you are still around as a free-diving partner would be brilliant

Regards,

ajwarriner.

I saw the octopus reef but couldn't find instructions of how to get there. Your best bet is to walk into a dive shop and ask. Zenobia is always a great option if you have a buddy and can dive to that depth.

Otherwise I would drive to the protaras area - some excellent spots around cape greko. Try 'green bay' where all the scubies go to train. Shallow but fun and plenty of fish...
