I have been interested in trying freeshafting. Most of my spearfishing is done in rivers and lakes so for the most part it is reasonably shallow. I just don't know how well it works while feediving. I shoot a cressi comanche 100. Any thoughts?

Depends on the conditions. If its clear and the fish are not the kind that will swim far and fast with a shaft in them, it works fine. I don't do anything else.

Ok thanks I will try it out. I have seen people put paralyzer tips on their shafts when they freeshaft. Is this commonly practiced? And is it a good idea? Or does of effect the shafts flight?

Don't know on that one, never used a paralyser tip. The main advantages of the freeshaft is a faster shaft, better accuracy and longer range. Seems like a paralyser tip works against that.
