Help in choosing a speargun for Norway

Hi all! I'm plannig to go to Norway, Bergen at the end of april and a bit confused with choosing an appropriate speargun, I never hunted in open sea... Well, as I undestood I need smth. big for my trip, could you people be so kind as to suggest me the correct size. Will I experience any problems with gabbiano snake 90cm gun or I need smth. bigger? Everybody is telling me that 100cm is optimal, but we have only 90 and 110cm snakes. Personally I'll prefer 90cm as I can also used it at my homeland. By the way, does anybody know if gabbiano elite comes with reel pre-installed or not, according to the description it has 6.35 shaft and 16 rubbers, but nothing written about reel... May be it is better to save some many and buy elite instead of snake?

Thanx!

Hi
I know nothing of norway other then id love to go one day. BUT.... i have the gab elite 90 and love it tooo death! I would go with the one you would get most use out of and if you can use a 90 at home then awesome.

Think but not 100% the difference from the gabbiano (16mm rubers) and the gabb elite is the elite comes with 20mm rubbers and a reel.

Good luck and please place photos

How much gun is enough gun? The answer is a puzzle between type and size of fish targeted, water clarity, type of bottom and related techniques.
What fish do you hunt in Norway? Cod? Mackerel?

I'm going there for a first time, guys who have already been there told me this: Cod, toothfish, Kalkan, HALIBUT, MOLVA

Snake 90 should do good, with its basic set up: 2x16 mm loop bands and the given 6,5 mm shaft. It's the best balance of accuracy and power for this gun.

Our friend & member AtomicHaggis is/was based in Norway & might be able to provide some advice, he's also an ace angler. You might want to try Private Mailing him through the forum.
