hi all

i'm new to mono fin swimming. i love it and i took naturally to it. i have the proper undulation down and my pool is long enough for swimming laps. i don't have a front mounted snorkel yet so right now i'm only doing the apnea laps..

yesterday i got near the wall and i figured i'd try to turn and continue the lap. i figured i was about one more kick away from the wall and next thing i know i smacked into the wall with such force that i couldn't really swim u/w anymore. i would get a pounding headache each time i would go to any depth (the pool is 9 feet deep but i wasnt swimming that deep)

is this a trial and error sort of thing? i approached the wall faster than i thought i would have and by the time i realize i wasnt going to make the turn it was too late. dangerous i know.. any tips?

for now i'm holding off on my turns.

any tips would be appreciated

Hi, i think that you should go slower until you can manage it well, a good tip is to count how many undulation you need to complete the pool, so you'll be prepared for turn...make it slow, you need your oxigen...

thats a great tip.. thanks!.. sometimes i just dont realize how FAST i'm moving through the water. it isn't my intention to swim so quickly, but it just sort of happens. however hitting my head on the pool wall was so not fun. that's what i get for watching those damn monofin competition videos. i'm like.. gee, that looks easy enough to turn. it's NOTHING like taking a turn while doing normal laps. you do have to time it much more precisely.

i will definitely take into account how many undulations it takes to get from one side of the pool to the other. it's a very long pool but i've never measured it formally, so i don't know how many meters it is.

thanks for the tip!
