Giant black sea bass video

Dam Nguyen took this last Wednesday while diving with me. He gets really close to some giant black sea bass. At the very end you can barely see the yellow fins of a 30 to 40 pound white sea bass. For some reason that showed up better on the camera than on my screen.

The big schools of smaller fish are calico bass and sand bass.

Naw, I love this. BTW, they are protected, but I just love to swim with those huge fish.

I didn't personally see the fish in the video, but I'd guess that they easily go 200 pounds or more. Of course even when I see them myself, its still hard to estimate weight since I never shoot one and then check the accuracy of my estimate against a scale.

They are so much thicker than the white sea bass. Now and then I see a small one that is about the length of a big white sea bass- say 60 to 80 pounds- but it must weigh a lot more.
