Giant squid off the Australia coast

Some local fishermen got this in their nets yesterday, 40 km outside the south west coast of Australia.

That makes for a lot of calamari rings.:D Did they say how big it is?
 
Whoa! 500 lbs! I'm damned glad those things don't have the same habits that the Humboldts do. It could make diving entirely too exciting.
