Hi there....

Anyone know anywhere that does ladies "off the peg" wetsuits?? All the ones I can find seem to be mens :(

I want (cheapish) freedive wetsuit, that will do me for a bit of messing about, so, not a lovely made to measure smoothskin Elios... :)

Come on, Cressi, Mares, Beachat....!! Sort it out!!

Try looking on apnea.co.uk im sure there are some ladies suits on offer by immersion - oops there not on offer but are fairly reasonably priced at about £130

good luck

Hi SaltFreeMermaid,

The Canadian/US company Bare makes a whole line of ladies' suits in standard sizes. My SO got one of theirs for the same thing- a tough, cheap suit you can pull on for wet activities rather than hardcore freediving.

You can actually get 'em by clicking on the Shopping link along the menu bar of DeeperBlue ( dive Suits. Scubastore.com, buy, offers )

Here's the suit she got:

Bare Sport Full 3/2 mm. Suits 1-3 mm, Scubastore.com, buy, offers, dive

They happen to have a suit on sale at a ridiculously cheap price right now:

Ralf Tech Flower Power 3/2 mm Mono. Suits 1-3 mm, Scubastore.com, buy, offers, dive

robdigital; Thanks !! The Immersion suit was the only one i could find too... not much choice for us ladies, eh ?!! :(

sross; Thanks also!! The flowery Ralf Tech suit made me smile... not only can us girls not buy an off the peg apnea suit, but we have to wear flowery wetsuits rofl (it was kinda cute though.... :) )

Hi Mandy Mermaid!

I'm also looking for a wetsuit that fits but won't bankrupt me, otherwise I'm going to freeze in Chepstow... let me know what you go for in the end. Hopefully meet you in person soon - will you be in the water 14-15th May?

Hi Mandy - I probably didn't fully understand what you are looking for but most of the brands you mentioned do ladies suits I think.

Whenever I see the size charts, they have 'ladies' sizes too so I am assuming they do them. Of course I haven't tried any of them on :)

Have a look here if you haven't already:
Suits , dive Apnea . Scubastore.com, buy, offers

The cressi (eg team) seems to come in ladies and also there is an immersion ladies too? Haven't looked at any others to see...

Grace - not sure if Mandy is looking for a second suit etc but if you are just going to buy one suit, I think it's more risky to go for something that you don't know if it'll fit well or how good it is. So, if you can afford it of course, I would consider buying something like an elios suit or another that you have recommendations for and even better, that you get to try on first...

I wouldn't say the same thing for any other piece of equipment (eg fins etc) - I was diving wih cheap rubber fins and it was just fine but at least in my opinion the suit is the one thing that can make the difference between having a brilliant day diving and an uncomfortable, freezing day (esp in the Uk).

Doesn't mean there aren't many good suits out there but just make sure whatever you get fits and seals well... :)

Enjoy Chepstow

Simos / Grace

Yeah, I've already got a nice smooth skin, open cell Elios suit, it's great for doing depth stuff, but I need something a bit tougher for scrambling over rocks, and scalloping!! (Grace : Elios are great, made to measure, so you know they're going to fit... just take a bit longer to come when you order them because of that reason...)

Cressi does show ladies wetsuit sizes on the size chart, but still no apnea suits... :head (i've emailed them to ask why!!)

I wanted an apnea suit really, not a scuba suit (ie no zips, built in hood etc....) and thought I'd buy an off the peg, to save having to wait for a made to measure elios... but the only ladies one I can find is the Immersion...

oh well, looks like it's back to elios........

Grace....

Just had a thought... Not sure what size you are, but a friend, Kate, has a couple of nice suits for sale. Second hand suits are always going to be cheaper !!

Find me on FB, and I'll ask Kate to contact you !!

Thanks Mandy, great idea, I'll come find you on FB after work. :D

Beuchat comes to mind. Immersion, polosub, picasso, Submarine (Nice - FR) also. Tough I have only experience with two taylor made 3mm Picasso (metal coating inside, nylon outside) and 5mm - mesh/opencel. Both were ok, though the 5mm was very vurnable <- please correct the spelling.

Asking around, probing experienced divers may also result in a nice second hand suit. Experienced freedivers have usually more suits, for different occasions. Maybe some want to order a new one, and pass on the older one?
Freediving suits are in general much more flexible, and thus a bit more forgiving in size.

If you buy your first suit, I think 5mm is a good flexible thickness. Nylon outside lining is nice allowing careless use. If you got nylon the flexibility is less than smoothskin / open cell, coated interior etc. So more difficult to breath, relax, duckdive and swim.

When you are sure you want to keep freediving, save some more money for a good tailor made suit. It will add so much more relaxation, warmth and comfort to your dives, increasing the quality of the whole experience. - surely worth the extra E 50 to E 100 and patience.

The flowery Ralf Tech suit made me smile... not only can us girls not buy an off the peg apnea suit, but we have to wear flowery wetsuits rofl (it was kinda cute though.... :) )

Heh, heh,

The RalfTech suit was probably on sale for that reason.

There are other cool womsn's suits, but always in the 1-piece style with zippers. We looked at this one

Exceed Empress White Long Women's Wetsuit 3/2mm

but you can imagine what it would look like after a day of rooting out underwater fossils around slimy rocks

Anyhow, I thought that Elios actually does produce its 2-piece freedive suits in standard sizes for women, at least in the nylon-covered versions. Of course they may only stock the most common sizes, and you'd have to wait for an oddball size just like you would for a custom one. You could email 'em and ask?

Also, as far as I know, Oceaner here in Canada also produces stock sizes for women, at least of its cheaper nylon-covered 2-piece suit. Info is available here:
