Glass glue for Bifocal.

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.

I have a Cressi Bigeyes mask with a bifocal on the left eye to read my D3.
Well it did have a bifocal but after 2 years it's come off! Can I use Loctite glass adhesive to glue it back on? If not then what's the best glue to do this?
Thanks in advance for any help, I can't read my D3 without it.
 
Hi Sunfish , my wife thinks the loctite glass adhesive would be OK , ( is it the UV activated kind ? )
This one dries clear , but perhaps try it on some thing else first .
Does it need to be bedded in the glue , or could you dot around the edge ?
Not sure if it would steam-up or get water trapped behind if just dotted on .
Sorry can't be more definitive .
I had a Bigeyes , but now I use a Bigeyes Evo , the best mask I've ever used , a cross between the Matrix and the Bigeyes , if you think about a change of mask .
 
Thanks Dave, it's the UV activated one. I bought the glass from DB shop with bifocal already attatched. When it came of the glue separated as a film so it waqs bedded in with a seam of glue around the edge. I'd be happy just to try it but on the glue packet it say's to keep it away from eyes. This probably means the uncured glue? Anyone know?

have you thought about glass glue. At least in the US you can get a small kit with glue to re-glue a rearview mirror mount to the inside of a windshield.
I would make a smooth layer across the entire lense, and make sure there are no bubbles. I think I would also use tape around the bifocal to clean off any excess glue.

As for the Locktite glue, You'd PROBABLY be fine after it sets.

I'm going to try it. If I go blind I'll let you know, though according to the priests I'll probably go blind anyway.

You can just do it until you need glasses and then stop, can't you.
 
Do you think that glue would work to attach my fluid goggle lenses to a pair of goggles????

I don't know about fluid goggle lenses but it worked on my bifocal lens. The lens is made of glass and is glued to the main (plain glass) lens.
I've used it once only and it's still firmly attatched.
