glueing blades to pockets

I use a pair of special fins carbon in omer pockets and was wondering if it was advisible to tighten the seal between the two using silicone/5200? Or if there was any other method to secure a tighter connection between blade and pocket. Thanks for any info.

I´m sorry... I don´t have advice for your question (I have no experience with these fins so far), but I have guestion for you: Is anything wrong with these fins? Why Omer pocket isn´t connected tightly with blade? Is that because of the long usage or are these fins poor quality? I have already ordered a pair of these fins from Special fins (but for me, they promissed to make it with beuchat footpockets). Are you satisfy with special carbon fins?

The right glue is cyanoacrilate (Loctite, Super Attak, Henkel Sicomet and similar products). Just a little, not too much, or it will be a mess when nextly you'll have to change the blades.

I pined and pined to go but my erstwhile partner wouldn't have any of it. we did manage to eat ourselves silly, though. Food is without parralel in Italy. Some day I will make it to Sardinia-it looks amazing. As to the preceeding response, I'm quite happy with the fins, mine are quite soft and have served me well. If you are ordering yours w/pockets I'm sure they will be snug fitting. The omer slot just isn't an exact fit with the lip on the Special fins. I don't think this is unusual, but glueing will help to secure a tighter fit.

So you didn't get there yet? Spearfishingwise I'm told that the best place is in Gallura (the northern edge of the island) but it's almost all very fine. Talking of food, when there you must absolutely try the Pecorino sardo (local cheese made from sheep milk), the local pasta (malloreddus and culurgiones) the typical bread (pane carasau and Carta da musica, "music paper" in english, but it's bread), the porceddu (roasted pork). They make a bitter honey that tastes great together with aged cheese (Ask for Miele di Corbezzolo: it's honey, but tastes bitter. Very rare). At least two wines of Sardinia are among my favourites: Cannonau (a stout red) and Vermentino (served cool it's fantastic with seafood).

Back to glue: on my Omer Rekord fins I used just a light drop of cyanacrilate and it worked great. In Italy the commercial name of the product is Loctite Super Attak. But it may have different commercial names in other countries.Just check if it's ciyanoacrilate and should be ok whaterever the name. let us know the outcome.

I've used Aquaseal and 3m's 5200 sealant. After one season the Aquaseal blades poppped out. I have never had problems with any of my blades glued in with 5200 sealant.

Hi guys:

I,m always use Cyanocrilate to install the blades into FP. Not too much are needes, only drops. There are a lot monthly and no problems, any complain.

I have my specialFins blades glued in with 5200. They popped out once. I reglued them using string to hold the ribs tight against the blades while they cured. Now I can't get them off. I think it's a forever marriage.

I am pretty sure the Cyanoacrylate you refer to is known as plain old super glue in the UK and Crazy Glue in the US. It comes in tiny little tubes. Sticks fingers together very nicely :t.
