my buddy and i are going spearing and diving monday and tuesday, the swell report looks great but vis might be the best.
anyone interested in meeting up, we'll probably camp in salt point.
i am a fairly decent freediver, always learning. my buddy is just starting off, this will be his fourth trip i think. i am thinking about bringing some scuba gear too for an extra dive.

not as awesome as i would have liked.
the first day the visibility was about three feet at south gerstle. it was a cool diving experience though. the really thick kelp and just moving really slowly to get through it and find some fish. i managed to shoot three decent rockfish, enough for dinner that night.
camped out, ate fresh fish.
diving the next day was a bit clearer, but i couldn't find a school of fish so i just grabbed an abalone after an hour of searching.

the conditions are definately a bit challenging, but very enjoyable.
i have dove at stillwater, fort ross, windemere pt, timber cove and ocean cove, salt point and fisk mill... what are some more spots?
fisk mill is the farthest north i have dove, what comes next after that?

Well, it may not have been what you liked, but you didn't come up empty-handed, and that's a good thing. It sounds like the camping was nice, and the fish probably wasn't too bad either.

thinking about going up again maybe next weekend or the week after.
anyone know if the visibility has gotten any better or any sports with decent vis. also, how is anchor cove, a little north of gualala?

There is a good size swell (12+ft) hitting up there right now. Hopefully that is enough to push some cleaner water in. Last time I was up there it was flat as a lake, but bad viz. Hopefully it will be much better after this swell, although I doubt it will put much of a dent in the kelp.
