going for 100 feet no fins (tips)

Madprops,

84 to 100 is a big jump, especially in cold water wearing a bunch of wetsuit. That kind of jump goes against normal training protocol. Do I assume correctly that you have already done a bunch of 100+ dives with fins and have already developed a comfort level with equalization, negative buoyancy, chest compression, etc? If not, going for a shallower dive as a step towards 100 would be a good idea.

Looked at your jellyfish vid again, great stuff , very creative framing.

84 to 100 is a big jump. i can get down to 100 feet with fins and no line when ever. i have never really gone any deeper but i feel i could. the first time i go to a new PB depth i do it FIM a bunch of times to get the feeling.
as for my comfort level with equalization, negative buoyancy and chest compression i'm good with all that.. again i just wish i had a nose clip!!!!

and thanks about the jellyfish video. it was so much fun to shoot! by far the best video i have made with my gopro. i am glad that people really seem to like it and are not just saying they do to be nice

I learned no-fins first. I put on a borrowed mono and did my first cwt dive in a competition. I still don't train with a fin for depth. My avatar photo was taken by the judge in a comp- my third ever cwt dive. If you can manage no-fins - the fin is a breeze.
Do you have fluid goggles? it makes a huge difference in no fins.

thats what i'm thinking! plus i like no fins more :)

and i don't have fluid goggles or a nose clip. i looked and the cheapest i can get them for is 250 with a nose clip. any tips on where to get them cheaper ??? or am i just going to have to bite it and get them at that cost ??

madprops in my little experience i can tell you that u can go withouth problems with a normal mask, i've done some cnf dives and all of them were with the mask, am hands free and frenzel equalizations, i dive cnf with both equalization and never had problems with that. With a noiseclip is obviusly easier but i suggest you to do some dives to get confortable with it. Btw i suggest you to use a lanyard for have an higher level of saefty and to reach your goal first withouth cameraman but just with saefty divers, because i think that the camera thing will add some stress to your performance and if you never have done it the stress will be higher. I suggest you to do first some dives cnf at 100 ft and than when u feel confortable make the video.
