Good luck to Fergus Callagy who will atempt to break the Irish Free Diving Record this weekend at the DoubleDip competition in the UK

Go Feargus we're so proud of you. Dive as we all were there underwater to support you united as one! :king

what discipline is that about?

Feargus = the depth of Irish commitment! :) Good luck!

Feargus get on down there mate but make sure you come back up safe.
Good luck with the dive:)

Go for it Fergus!! best of luck: full report expected!

I just got back from the comp. Feargus did some great dives, he did a 25m Free Immersion dive on Saturday and got a white card (= successful dive). Today he was attempting a 35m Constant Weight dive but unfortunately was disqualified for a rule violation before the dive. I think he also had equalisation problems and didn't make the depth. But he was still smiling at the end of the day.

I think the shock for all was that Feargus wasn't the only Irishman there! Brian Daly also competed and had a successful 30m Constant Weight Dive and 35m Free Immersion dive, which I think are both Irish records. Word on the street is that they're both working on an Irish team...

Nice work to the pair o' paddies!

great news. well done to the lads. hopefully soon the paddies might take the competition!

well done to both of them, I'll get the full results up in an hour or so

yup, there is an Irish team in the making - but we're not letting you have Jay! He may have a bit of an Irish accent going on but now we've seen his potential, he's definitely a Brit ; )

Didn,t know this thread was in existence, thanks lads. This could be put down to a bad weekend if everyone at the dip were not so friendly and supportive. I had a great weekend despite the bad dive on sunday. I was struggling to equalize at the surface due to snots despite the nasl rinse and salts I had brought with me. I went back into town on sat before my dive and got a snot buster inhaler type thing that to be fair definatly worked but i couldn,t equalise past 25m at all and was struggling to hit that. I actually felt better on Sunday until I started the warm ups and struggled to equalise again resorting to turning around and continuing to drop another few metres before begining the ascent. I thought I might have problems as I hadn,t been deeper than 15 metres in a long while due to the weather here of recent weeks. I got a red card before I ever started the dive as i dipped/submerged my airways during my breath up. Like I said this could have put a downer on my weekend but the saltfree crew and angels don't let that happen and I had a great time over the whole weekend. the dives only account for such a small part of this event even if they are the main focus. It was great to see Brian there too who put in some cracking peformances on free immersion, constant weight and cw no fins. Brians only at it a short while so I think we will be seeing a lot more of him in the future. Thanks again to the angels for keeping a close eye on all and the Sam and all the saltfree crew for the whole event.

well done Ireland! Good on you Fergus enjoying the time. Everyone I seem to meet re-freediving makes it so much fun that results are secondary. To loosen those stuck tubes try letting the hot shower jet down on the area for 10 mins, sniffing the hot water in and through. It stings a little. It seems to loosen me up better than most meds though.

cheers

Thanks Ben....

Hopefully the Paddies and the Aussies can discuss their team performances over a few beers in the near future!

It was a pleasure meeting you and Penny....have a great time on your travels and hopefully see you at another event soon!

cheers
Brian
