Hey gang!
Im close to buying a GoPro cam for underwater filming as summer is here and I'm planning on spending some time by the Red Sea; Ill be doing some scuba diving and fd but wont exceed depths of 40. Some footage I have seen regarding the quality for the size of the device was pretty impressive. Has anyone experienced flaws or technical problems with the GoPro model? The thing looks tempting as I am not a professional- just taking footage for recreational purposes; any one wanna share stories?

Much appreciated!

Joey

You have to buy flat lens for underwater.Use lower fps rate for dark environment.
I think the best diving mode is 960P or 720P 30fps.More noisy spot in 1080P and 720P 60fps if light condition is bad.

I shot in the water where the visibility is less than 10 meter :

This is one of the latest focus fix options available on the market.

About Our Products

One of the biggest problems I've seen is user error. There is no way to know from the back whether the GoPro is recording or not (unless you have the newly released LCD backpack). I've seen guys press the button to take video, then press it again to stop the video over and over while filming underwater. At some point they get out of sync and record when they think the thing is off and vice versa. If you don't have the LCD backpack, turn the unit around and look for the blinking red light on the front every time you start recording to verify that the camera is recording. You'll have to edit you mug out of the video every time but it's better than not recording video when you intended to.

It's a great camera both above and below water. Can't beat it for the money in my opinion.

I don't own one, but dive with several guys who do. The unit seems pretty much bullet proof. Get the new back viewer, it is very worth it.

Great little camera, an incredible value.

There is a problem with the latch. It pops loose at depth and can open on ascent. A rubber band over the latch is all it takes to secure it in the down position while at depth.
