GoPro Hero3 Black With Backscatter Red Filter Review

I wonder if one can have the same or better results with a bit of software colour correction. I had some great results with some careful colour correction in combination with a simple camera. Logically I think a filter just takes away from the available light, blocking much of the other colours. Though maybe the camera then chooses longer exposure times and lower f stops to compensate for the lower light entering. So in my estimation it may save some post processing but it will limit the light level range on can use the (small sensor!) camera.

Am I correct in my assertions?
 
it doesnt really limit much light into the camera for video purposes. for photo yes its important to have enough light into the camera. I personally prefer to use the filter and in post brighten it up if necessary. color correcting in post takes up alot of time and yet cant really achieve what the filter can do.
