Gorilla pole spears?

I wasn't sure where to post this, since there doesn't seem to be a sub-group for pole spear users. Anyways, I ran across this website called Gorilla Diving Products. They seem to be pretty pleased with their products. Has anyone ever used them? Seem to be pretty heavy on the material and on the wallet...

I havent ever heard of these but ill have to check out the site.

At the moment im using the manny puig. I find it to be an absolute missile. Others ive speared with use henley's a lot.. but i always found them to be a bit sluggish.

time to check out the gorilla website. oh and Welcome do DB!!!!
 
Apparently they're supposed to be Riedel spears... Never actually used one, but have heard many good things about the quality. But does it justify the price though? People rave about the durability of the Ray Odor spears and they cost a fraction of the Gorillas.

I was checking out Ray Odor's website and I was wondering about the differences between his 3-piece spears and the 1-piece "Florida flounder special," besides the obvious collapsible ability. The 3-piece is anodized but the 1-piece doesn't have any coating. But due to the yellowish tinge, I was wondering if it was bronzed aluminum, a material that has some pretty decent capability in fighting the corrosive effects of saltwater (much like anodized aluminum). Would anyone know if the 1-piece is made of bronzed aluminum? I will probably try to contact Ray, but since I have other expenses that take more precedent than spearfishing, I will purchase a spear later in time.
 
be careful about buying solid aluminum pole spears. They bend very easily, and especially when shooting in caves and holes. Lance Ohara here in hawaii Makes an insane hybrid. The front 1/3 is fiberglass and the back 2/3 is aluminum. They have the punch of an aluminum spear but the durability of fiberglass. He makes them in a bunch of different lengths, with detachable heads ore solid heads with a 3-prong. He also makes 2 piece or one piece spears.

I've read great things about Lance O'hara's spears on spearboard, the hapa design like the Kawabanga spears. And judging by the link you gave, very nicely priced too. Looks pretty sweet! I'm bookmarking that site. Thanks blaiz. I saw there is an option for a "wooden dowel." Does that just add weight or does it give the spear less flex?

must have missed that. Never heard of the wooden dowel. Ill have to check it out.
