I just would like to say a big thank you to all the helpers who came to assist
us at our pool competition in Liverpool Freedivers.co.uk - Resources

They made the whole event smooth, enjoyable and professional. I was surrounded by friends and it was a wonderful event

Thanks :)

The Liverpool Aquatics Centre staff were understanding and extremely helpful and we would like to raise a glass for looking after the whims of all the picky athletes all day ;)

It was well attended by some great athletes, we had some great performances from some of the newbies, and a couple of 150m swims from Mandy Buckley and Stuart Bond from our own club.

Dave King won the mens with a good 6'58" Staic followed by a wonderful 217m Dynamic swim which is a UK National record by some way. It was previously held by Alan Barber.

Liv Philip won the ladies.

Well done everybody from Organiser to lowly chimp scorer rofl

Well done to all! Sounds like a brilliant comp - did anyone check up Dave King's backside in case there was a propeller up there? Holy crap that fella's got some go in him!

Wish I could have been there, about time oop north was represented!

More links will be added to youtube.com over the next week or so but i just wanted to Add Dave Kings 1st and say well done. your dive was just awesome.

Even though i didnt dive it was great to watch. The whole day was well run and it just might spur me to get back into the water and train for the next event.

to lowly chimp scorer rofl

oo ooo aaah aaa eee eee EEEHH

I didn't even eat one banana, ya cheeky get.

It was a really interesting experience to attend my first competition, especially as a non-participant - got a great insight into how much logistical work is required on these things, and how it all works.

Thanks Steve for organising it, and congratulations to all those higher up in the pecking order than "chimp scorer" for helping it to run smoothly.

Mate, you did fantastic, thanks :)

Huge thanks to Steve for organising such a well run comp, smooth as silk. A massive congrates to the mighty Mr King, I'm speechless....for once!

Hope you do it again next year Steve, the day was a credit to you and all involved!

Are the results available somewhere? If not, could you please send them to the aida's ranking mailbox?

Just like to add my thanks and congrats to all involved from competitors to organisers.
great day great comp and great company .
one more thing, twice yesterday i noticed a tear or two(dust he says) roflfrom mr millards eyes , once when chris laycock(best newbie) done a magnificent 123m pb and when dave whacked that awesome dive of 217m out . it says a lot about a person to me that .
top bloke steve. :friday:friday

Trux I've got it in a spreadsheet all neat and tidy waiting to give it to you personally :)

I need to pay AIDA first too, all in hand, but keep cracking that wip mate.

Dust=Northern Sentimentality. Fantastic competition, very well run, and great atmosphere. Sound judging as well, with no disputes.

As for Dave's record, well that's the 2nd time I've seen him do that now, with a 60 metre ( and 6 year ) gap. Both have been electric to watch.

Well done to all involved.

Well, I don't get paid for it anyway, so you can send it right away :)

Well done all who participated. Makes me realise how introverted I am in my own little spearing world.

I shall endeavour to enlighten myself and am much encouraged by your posting apneaboy. Well done.

Dave.

I would like to add to all the back slapping for Steve and every one involved in the comp.
Those of you who have been around for a while will remember that a precedent has been set of event organisers with dusty eyes. I can't be the only person to remember Howard Jones with tears running down his face after the Cyprus comp! For those who haven't run a comp it is fairly stressful and I suppose all that relief when you have finished has to come out some how.
Being a cynic I supect what really brought Steve to tears was the thought that he would have to pay AIDA the money for the ranking rather than spend it all on white socks and Eccles cakes roflroflrofl

Can i also thank our sponsors who were Orca wetsuits, Trygon with nose clips for three people and t-shirts, No-Tanx with some mono bags and a t-shirt and Sean Peters photography and videography for filming the event.

And Stuart Bonds 150m. Both athletes train together and did the swim within a few seconds of each other, another personal highlight of the day for me :)
