Hi everybody,

I've posted this thread also in the Spearo Board section but didn't get much
reply so hoping to do better here. Anyhow I'll get straight to the point. I'm looking for someone who can help me make a new website regarding to groupers.
It'll contain everthing from spearfishing, stories, photo's, video's, recepies, general information on the grouper, living area's, equipment but also an anglers section.

If you've got any idea's for the website or can help me create one please contact me. Wish I could do it myself but I'm spending way to much time in the water to learn it :D

Greetz

ps: I was thinking of creating it in the same style like the hawaiiskindiver website. I just love that website.

I can help you with some vids/photos of our Mediterranean Groupers(dusky, golden, broomtail, whichever I can find)... Unfortunately most groupers here (if they are of age/size) are cauught by us =] , but I can spend a couple of weeks just shooting videos/photos for ya. =]

That would be awesome man! I'm going on a trip to France in a few weeks and I just bought myself a camera (canon Ixus 1000 HS) with underwater casing to get some pics and vids myself but I could really use your help since I'm very unexperienced. I've got this idea for the website banner and I need a photo like the one attached but a bit more spectacular if you know what i mean. The idea is to have the a (dusky) groupers head sticking out the banner and at the side fading out to the website's name and logo.

Anyhow thanks for your help. Seems I've got myself a photographer. ::friday
Just someone who can help editing and we're set to go :D

Connor, cdavis here on DB, can tell you more than you ever thought possible on groupers. Hope he chimes in here.

Thanks. If he doesn't reply I'll send him a pm. You know anybody with some good computerskills? I think that (in time) we could make some money on the website. I looked it up and the words, grouper + spearfishing, grouper + fishing, ... is monthly almost 200.000 times searched on google. So that would be without yahoo! and other search engines. And it would be the first website only for groupers so with a little luck the website could become very popular.
But don't get me wrong.. I'm not looking to make some extra bucks ;)

Heh... yeahhh... riiight. =]
Sony To Buy Video Website Grouper

There's an article in the San Francisco Chronicle saying that Sony is paying $65 Million to acquire the video sharing website Grouper. There have been a few exits of video sharing sites lately. MTV purchased Atom Entertainment, which is much different than Grouper, but demonstrates the many ways large companies are thinking about online video. YouTube seems to be trying to walk a line between video sharing and partnering and it will be fun to watch them as they approach an exit point.
Given that Sony acquired Grouper, it will be interesting to see if they open there video content up to the site or if they keep it as is. Grouper is known for being strict about copyrighted materials, which is something that Sony reportedly liked.
There are a rumored 200 plus video sites now. The space is definately crowded and acquisition is the prefered exit for venture backed companies of this type given the IPO market. I think the $65 Million mark for a site like Grouper is a very good exit.
Congrats to Grouper!

Haha all right you've got me figured out dude ;)
Imagine getting that kind of money for just a website.
No more working, just freediving and spearfishing
Maybe in the future.. have to get it online first though :head
