Groupers

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.

There are a lot of groupers in Cyprus. we do reef hunting up to 20 meters.

When i frist spot the grouper i am on the surface. The grouper looks and stares at me for a while and then he retrets to his hole where it is a maze and 90% of the times he disappears.

The smaller groupers up to 2 kg, you can shoot because they are very curious and stay around. The big ones dont even give you a chance.

Any techniques on how to get the big ones.

Christis i am glad you have many of them in south....

Look to the Spearfishing Technique section for more detailed info. There are some tricks to how to stalk grouper and how to shoot them in the cave...

Generally groupers out of the cave in between 10-20 meters are hard to approach but when they stay deeper its easier cos they don't encounter many speros and sometimes they don't see you on the surface....
