Looking nice Tom. Me i'm happy to settle with the fact i worked out how to load my gun properly in the garden this morning, quite why i found it hard to get to the second notch I have no idea, wasn't eactly difficult... Decided best not to test it on next doors cat... despite him leaving me "little presents" in my garden every other day. Very tempting though when he walked past rofl
Got myself a new spear with holes in it to allow the string to fit properly as had problems with the plastic slider thingy on my old spear. Then found out that running the line through both holes caused friction and made the line fray and snap when fired and reaching the limit of the string. Got some new string which seems to work now with just a knot through the upper hole (i.e. it doesn't go into the safety catch now)
Also got a weight belt and not wanting to go OTT with the lead went for 8lb for now and will see what I need to add later but that should help me sink!!
Planning on a morning session tomorrow after I drop the boy off at nursery and the missus to work so about 8:30. Any suggestions on location?

Right. Now have the following:
Custom Suit (on order - supposed to mail from US tomorrow)
Beachat 750 gun
Weighbelt with 8lb of lead
Cheap flippers (decent ones next on the list I reckon)
Decent enough mask with prescription lenses though I have just been wearing my contacts with the plain glass recently and that seems OK.
I think that's it other than a metal loop type stringer thing and some rope. Enough to get me sorted but no-where near my fishing collection of gear...

OK Andy I am feeling very generous today so I will give you some info on where to go but first I need to know what state of tide you intend to dive (float) & you better tell me the size of tide because I am not looking at the moment due to a deep depression due to my ear problem & the fact I cant get in the water myself.
Intending on a low water (well 2.8m low so not really very low) which is at 11:40 ish tomorrow.
Sorry to hear about the ear problem, I have a problem of not getting in the water much due to child and too much fishing to do...
I have no idea what the water is like for clarity at the moment but fishing at the bathing pools today, the viz was good from above with my polarised glasses on.
I would have guessed on going west somewhere for my floating session...

A very nice dive on a small low would be in the boot lace forest by the Cup & Saucer, go in by the boats about 400mts before the C&S coming from L'Eree, opposite a little "on shore" boat park. Swim out straight from the boats & swing to the left, not far only a few hundred mts from shore. You will find the forest, swim on the surface very very slowly, if you dont at least see a bass I will be very surprised. By the way this spot is totally unfinishable with a rod. b lucky Mart
Ah yes. You mean here? Pic is for fishing at high so no shots of the water ther than this one slightly further along but the same thing for swimmers/spearers really. I think you mean off the rocks on the left of the second pic?
You can fish at high water but nowhere near the boot lace. The low tide marks can only be fished from the sand/rock at the low past the boats but is still OK for Bass ater dark.

Very clever Andy but trust me you cant fish the forest, go check it out you wont believe what those bass get up to in the day time.
Anyhow that is the only mark I am giving out on this thread, those Jersey guys are watching!

According to channel teletex they found Matt harvey the missing diver ALIVE after 2 days lost at sea. Amazing and great news.

On a completely different subject, Lexicon Sports ( that well known emporium of diving gear
) have some open heel flippers allegedly reduced from about £50 to £15. The make is Tigurio or something - anyone heard of them? It might be a good chance to buy this type cheaply so I can wear proper boots instead of socks - difficult to check the fit without buying the boots first though

Admittedly the strap does look a bit grey as if it's a bit perished - so as usual perhaps you get what you pay for.
Any thoughts?

Yeh I heard the yacht thing too! Great news! 35miles is a long way, but then he was in the water water a LONG time! He must have a good suit that boy!

Listening to the news just now says he was found just off fermain close to where he entered!! Lucky bloke.
Its amazing he wasn't found before with lifeboat helicopter air search flying christine police numerous private boats and people on cliffs looking if he had been in that close all along especially with the wind in the west all weekend. I was out in the little russell on saturady afternoon and went round Anfre 3 times it was fairly calm in the lee of the land. Plus the rowers and their guard boats were out as well, and they were using gabrielle as a race mark.
It will be interesting to hear his story.

Sorry to sound negative but something's not quite right with this story.
If the guy had been in the water for 60 hours @ 1knot of tide thats 60 miles!!! Seems strange that he ended up in pretty much the same place.
The other thing which doesn't quite add up is the fact could he actually have survived? 9:00am saturday till 7:00 pm monday in the water? assuming he had a dry suit with no leaks - possible? The best lifejackt in the world will keep your nose and mouth 3-4 inches above the water? could you live for 2.5 days like that without getting exhausted you couldn't sleep and would constantly be having to stop waves braeking over your face.
What does anyone else think? Am I being overly cynical?
