You are right Magpie, there are & has been plenty of air guns that are virtually recoilless. Anyhow considering our mambas have such low recoil, it is not such an issue for us.
That night dive did not sound like fun to me, with my itchy trigger finger & the thought of Porbeagles I would of properly plugged that tank diver!

... nothing leapt out of the ocean at me — apart from sea-spray! It's been a bit choppy round Cobo.

Hopefully Sarah wasn't too bored being the only Spearo widow!
Attaching a not very good photo plus the one I was showing around I took at the Humps with my Pentax Optio WP. As some of you were asking about it, I personally would recommend it as a good cheap waterproof camera, although I don't know if you can still buy this model - they've upgraded it to 6 or 7 Mp. And of course it's only waterproof down to 1.5m. There are also some bad reviews on the net claiming it has problems with the waterproofing, and I must admit I had to take the first one back as it developed a strange fault, apparently not related to the waterproofing. It was replaced with a new one with no problem, and this one has been fine so far.
Anybody going out this morning? Recommendations for a 3- 4m low ?(depending which tables you read - why do they differ?

Great night Foxy, loved that smoked fish of all varieties.
As you can see from Colins pic I like that washing drum burner, and she loves the whole outdoor shelter thing, sounds like I'm going to be constructing something similar once we get in our new place!

Now I dont mean to be funny or anything, but! There seems to be a distinct lack of bass being caught for the last few weeks!? Come on guys there are other people on this site who read our thread 
I have had to put a serious dent in my frozen winter fish stocks & my ears are still playing up! However I am hoping to do a few shallow water sessions next week (when I get back from the boat show)
Traditionally this is the best time of year. "Very OMD" tells us, the turbot move in close as do other flatfish, about now, until the end of October. I would think this is also our best chance for that elusive gilthead?

Popped in at Salerie corner for a quickie this afternoon. Snagged a 4lb and a 5lb Mullet and a 3+lb Wrasse. Great fun but forgot my bag and have lost my stringer. Inginuity was called into play!
It was a quickie because (cutting a long story not quite so short) I was waiting for my wife and Latvian friend to return from buzzing off on the back of a couple of Jetskis! (arranged with my cousin (Paul) and his chum for Latvian friend's birthday).
Once they got back it was my go. And BOY do those machines move!! I had NO idea how much power and acceleration those things turn out!!! It was UNBELIEVEABLE!!!! I swore quite a lot and almost soiled my wetsuit. (thankfully it's camo
)
Coming in to St Sampsons' harbour was our calmest bit of sea... where we clocked up 86kph !!!! Absolutely thrilling.
Mark, my cousin's chum is keen on getting into spearing next year so I've suggested the DB site and this forum and I look forward to seeing him about soon.
Fish are now dealt with and bits have been stashed in fridge and freezer. Time for tea (!) and slumber.

Nice one Marcel (AKA Gerorge:duh ). I can see you're really getting into spearing. Mart's right this is the time of year for the flats to be inshore as well as the bass. Really OMD is Old Man Derek, by the way. If you're confused, so am I .
Very good social the other night. Smoked fish was excellent (mullet, wrasse, pollack, mullet), it was all very tasty. Good venue, great fire, super company, hard working host. Well done mart.
Went in the boat on saturday but had to contend with a 6 to 10 foot swell and normally wouldn't have dived but mate John was keen. Well he was 'til at one point a swell (and my bad driving) nearly put 5 ton of boat on his head as I tried to pick him up. Lost the spearhandle but at least John was okay (hard head). Another time John got the rope stuck with one turn around the prop and gave me a sleigh ride across the bottom 80 foot down. Ho! Hum! what fun. Not surprisingly we didn't catch much but just managed a feed of flatties - just. 'Stil every day diving is a pleasure to me

Foxfish thanks for the good food and company on Saturday. The smoked fish was delicious. I had a great time. See you soon again and once I get my sinuses sorted I will take you up on your offer to get our together some time.
