Its page 147 on mine! Guess I've got my settings different to everyone else! Wonder what the most posts in a thread ever is?
Anyway, I was in to Port Grat yesterday hoping to go and find some razors. Went in during the lull in the wind but viz turned out to be 2ft in the good bits. Hoped it would improve further out but in fact it just got worse, couldn't see the end of my gun!
So turned round and came back in, went to fire off the mamba (which is almost well balanced with my latest mods, when a swell hit me meaning it released out of the water, spear shot out, line went twang, and so I began 10minutes of searching for me sodding spear in 1ft viz. Found it eventually (but not before headbanging many rocks in the murk).
A great dive!

Don't worry Tom its going to be great conditions this weekend. How do I know? I'm in France for a few days, so its bound to be!!
This weather has been underpants. I have a boat I have yet to use and havn't been in the water for a couple of weeks....aaargh.:head :head

Good posts Magpie,Andy and Spaniard-it's nice to have the somewhat 'anoraky' techno stuff interspersed with a bit of humour-it serves a porpoise to occasionally ray's a laugh!rofl

I don't suppose anyone has a decent 5mm or similar suit that would fit a 12 year old they want to get rid of? ( for a reasonable price of course)It's just that my son would like to come in with me now and again and his 3mm shortie with no hood is a bit chilly after a few hours! even a jacket to go over his existing one would help. Don't know if you can buy proper ones that size anyway, but didn't want to spend a lot in case he loses interest ( or grows!)
Andy - the conditions are not only pants, they're bras, suspenders, and stockings too ( in France will they be culottes?) But it's going to be brilliant tomorrow, as I've got the day off.
Magpie - sorry to hear you slightly wasted your time! I've had days like that too. I heard about someone who thought he'd try a bit of target practise in his garden, with the spear attached. Apparently, the line didn't break but the spear shot straight back and went into his hand, requiring a visit to A&E and stitches. Pros and cons of using braid versus mono? Also perhaps shows the power of Mambas!

Driving down th ewest coast this morning the viz looked surprisingly good and very calm, so may try and 'sneak out early' from work this afternoon if it holds up.

Well did 'sneak out' this afternoon. Went way way out at Rocquaine, 3 small plaice under the grill as I type this - fresh small plaice you can't beat it with homegrown spuds and homegrown (frozen) green beans, bottle of muscadet for 2 and I'm going to feel contented

Just a reminder to all the spearos that there is a major dangling comp on this weekend with approx 150 people chucking 6oz leads at the sea. As it's a comp and there are some serious types fishing, could I just add some warning about diving within about 200yds of danglers this weekend, especially after they have been awake and fishing for 24 hours straight... amazing how accurate they can suddenly become with their casting...
Well I continued my razorfish hunt to Cobo yesterday. Viz was amasingly good, bottom was clear in 5m away from the shallows.
Unfortunately that didn't help! Still don't understand how you're supopsed to grab the things! couldn't get me fingers in quick enough to get a grip on them before they disappeared. Also didn't find many, seen loads there before and there were shells all over the place.
I ended up with 2, gained by shoving my spear through the side of the shell to hold them in place.
Playing that close attention to the sea bed did reward me with a plaice of over a pound though, and would have had a 3lbs bass if it wasn't sat infront of a rock and I wasn't quite to precious with my spear!
Was a good dive though, finally!

Don't worry, I'm going to be one of the danglers so the danger is averted!
Cheers Andy, would be good if you find some, you'll have to show me the technique! I think tbh the sand at cobo was too fine, meaning you couldn't get your fingers into it, in a more gravelly substrate you'd be able to get below the surface more easily.
