I am a die hard pneumatic user but would like to get some suggestions on some band guns so i can get more range.

Do you use dry barrel Air guns?
If not - forget the band guns & fit a Tomba dry barrel kit.
Then you can enjoy the extra power & super smooth low recoil shooting.

Also I would like to know the ranges for say a 100cm gun. Does it differ much from gun to gun or are all pretty close to the same?

Re: Gun choices

Range is usually determined by the spear-line rigging. If several bandguns are each rigged with a single wrap, then they will shoot approximately the same range before the spear is stopped by the spear-line. If you need more range than that, you might want to consider a longer speargun (e.g. 110/120/130...there are even longer guns available but they are rather specialist pieces e.g. 130/140/150/...). Longer is not always better though.

Pneumatics are usually more powerful for a given size, so surprised you are looking for a bandgun for range. There are good reasons to use a bandgun but range wouldn't really be one that springs to my mind.

Im just not sure that i can load a 100+ pneumatic even if i could from what i have read the range is only about 18 feet. Where as the few band guns I have found ranges on say 22-28 feet.I shoot a Cyrano 970 with 3 wraps and have found several instances where it didnt have the needed range

Thanks Fox. And I'm not dead set on band gun just wanting some suggestions for the event i have to go that way.

OK, I use both type of guns but I don't really like the "high power" "multi band" Euro style guns because of the recoil & harsh firing cycle due to the light weigh.
I use mostly single band euro style guns to around 100cm then change up to high mass wood or carbon guns for multi band use.
Dry barrel airguns are really cool, you get more power for less loading effort, less noise, less recoil & a lovely smooth shot.
I use an Asso 115 air gun with dry barrel kit, it is not bad to load but very powerful.
My other favourite gun is a 100cm teak gun with twin 18mm bands, pretty difficult to load but a nice smooth shot. The woody is heavy out of the water but beautifully balanced at 8-10mt.
Lots of us are eagerly awaiting the new http://forums.deeperblue.com/pneumatic-spearguns/92653-airguns-sporasub-one-air-2012-a.html

Hey, i just started spear fishing so maybe my advice is not as strong as others. But after using many of my friends guns and using the Cressi Comanche Speargun i just bought i couldn't be happier (for now, looking to upgrade, suggestions?). I like it a lot. Apparently it is popular in the spear fishing community (IDK). Anyway I finally settled on this gun from this guys advice: NichePage | Niche | Spearguns. I mean i am a noob, is this guys advice good or bad? Did i make a good decision?

The cressi is a light gun. It isn't meant to really reach out like a Mako or a Rob Allen. They have much heavier front tubes (less tendency to bend), heavier shafts (more momentum), and are designed for more band power (2 X 16 mm bands)
