After searching all over I'm still not clear on what contributes to a gun's power. Is it the length or the bands or both? I see posts relating visibility to gun length, I don't get that. I have a 60mm gun now and it doesn't shoot very far, but the bands seems very hard to load.
Yes, I'm confused, can someone clarify.

Longer bands pulled to the same ratio (3.5 x unstretched length) will give more power. A longer shaft of the same diameter will give more mass. You need more band power for the longer shaft, which you get with the longer gun. The greater mass of the shaft will keep it going longer and have greater penetration on a target.

Shafts lose velocity rapidly in water, so to reach out further when the water is clear, you need the longer gun.

The same stretch in a shorter gun will be just as hard to pull back, but it will return to normal length sooner, giving less time to transfer energy to the shaft.

Hope this helps
