Pretty clear waters - rare minimum of 3 or 4 meters. 8 to ten or more quite common.

Fast moving soft fish with minimal curiosity.

I posted in the technosport shaft thread - but thought it might be better to open a discussion here. I have looked at Riffes - they are expensive! I've found the MT0 for $200us but doubt I could get the range and accuracy out of it, MT1s looks about right but is very pricey. Also looked at Sporasub instinct etc.

Be nice if it could also handle the occasional salt-water visit :)

Anyway - hands on opinions welcomed!

For fast moving fish, I find the mid handles to be awsome for tracking but as you say, the riffe misses out on that but of accuracy at full range, did you see my Euricans? they seem to be the best of both worlds within the confines of the smaller fish. OK not an off the shelf gun but worth 5 minutes thought at least :) How are your woodwork skills by the way :)

Yes I did and they are lovely. :inlove
My woodworking skills - in the most literal interpretation of the term, of course - are virtually nonexistant as is (again - in the most literal interpretation only) my collection of woodworking tools. :duh

Well the concept is good, they swing easily in the water and are spot on accurate even at full range. Well it was worth the thought anyway :)

Not really, they are just a few bits of teak laminated together with epoxy, a handle double mortice and tennoned in 12" back from the butt and a rail routed in. Have you seen Persiko's site? his guns are very similar and he has instructions on the site, the only real difference with ours is the mid handle and more mass to make the shot easier :)
