Hi all, hopefully I am of to Mozambique in January. Talking to a couple of friends who have been before they are saying that the best gun will be one of about 140cm. Does anyone have any recommendations, Carbon or aluminium etc makes? Thanks.

Hiya

GREAT time to be going to Moz. Where in Moz. are you going to be??

Gun wise, for normal pelagics, a 1.3 or 1.4m gun will work well. If you're after sailfish or marlin, a proper mid-handle Blue Water gun should work well. Remember, the water is very clean, and you'll mis-judge distances to the fish regularly!!

Water temp. is dependant on where you dive and a 3mm wetsuit or even a normal surf suit will work well. If the water gets too hot, try and get a thin lycra suit for protection against the sun and blue-bottles (portuguese men-o-war).

At the moment its either Barra bay or gungarta bay(spelling) Are there any Flat fish for flattie basher? Dont know what he will do without the odd Dover Sole to shoot!

Hiya

Thats both in the Inhambane area, sort of middle Mozambique. Has a very popular dive spot called Manta Reef. As the name suggests, there's normally quite a few manta's around, but i would suspect that they might be a tad larger and maybe a little stronger than your Dover Sole!!:D:D:D

Anyone have any thoughts on what to get Rob Allen or Rabitech, carbon or alley?what do people prefer, does one gun have any benefits over the other.

Hiya

Both are EXCELLENT guns. Carbon vs Alluminuim debate has been done quite a bit already. Bottom line is, Carbon is stronger ie. less prone to barrel flex, lighter but also easier to damage. Alluminuim is more robust and cheaper, but a bit heavier. Its really a much about a muchness. Either way, you'll kill fish!!!

I've both, RA's and Rabi's, and the RABITECH's work well for me!!!

Simply choose the one you prefer.
