Hello I am new to the sport of freediving. I was wondering if there is and gym excercises to help me perform better in the water??

Any anaerobic exercises are generally good for freediving, especially if they target the muscles used during your dives.

Cycling is probably the best for Bi-fins, especially hill intervals.

I find deadlifts are great for building power in the right muscles for using the monofin. Squat or leg press might be better for bi-fins (more legs less back)

In general, technique is much more important than fitness, but.. fitness will always help.

What do think about kettle bells, for freediving ?

Like I said, any fitness helps, and you should work your entire body.. kettle bells can be part of what you do overall.

The effectiveness of your workouts depends on your level. A beginner will get Much Much more out of dry static apnea, than any specific type of physical conditioning. A really deep/long diver will benefit more from muscular workouts.

It all depends on how much you want to get into freediving. If you like it a lot, I’d suggest slowly transitioning to only training in the pool, do more swimming to replace your gym days, it’s great exercise and doesn’t damage the body as much. HIIT is also a good bet I think because it is intense and possibly increases your VO2Max. Yoga helps too with core strength and flexibility :)
