I am new to SCUBA and have tried a couple of dives with a Zeagle Ranger. It was a joy compared to the other rental vest types.

But my general concern is on the surface. In the worst case, it would be hard to stay not face in the water with the Ranger. I know that from using it. You have to do a concerted "twist" to get on your back o the surface. Once there you're OK though.

Any experience with Halcyon or Transpac that is different. I see that Halcyon seems to have a different approach to the integrated weights.

Thanks

ian,

Sorry nobody answered for so long.

Most back mount weight integrated BCs will float you comfortably on surface if you weight them right. Put some weight in the rear weight pockets, especially for aluminum tanks, and don't over inflate. Kick back on it and then add more air if necessary. Most Zeagle BCs now have the rear weight systems, and all can have them added.

No BC is a PFD, but should be easy to maintain balanced buoyancy, under and above the water.

The new Zeagle Stiletto is my favorite.

I had an awesome Zeagle until the storm that is....hows the diving been in Florida Chad?

use the weight pouches on the back to balance better at the surface.

I use a Halcyon Backplate and Wing. I love this system of BC and have no problem staying head up on the surface. Have used Zeagle, Owned a Transpac, and would not buy either again. Big Fan of a simple Backplate and wing.

IF I had to choose, I prefer the Diverite kit to the Zeagle kit.

Just like Ford is not one vehicle... Zeagle makes over 10 diverse BC models and also BP&Ws in three metals, with two harnesses and over 7 bladders available.

Mike,

It's been pretty lousy weather off Tampa Bay and the red tide came back just before this last blow.

How about up in rig country?

Chad

wouldnt know...ended up in Tennessee after the storm...probably be 2 years before I can rebuild and move back.

try letting some air out of it.
It dont have to be inflated like a ballon to be on surface
