I figured I would start this off, because we only have one record in there. Anyone can post on this thread if they would like to present a HOF caliber fish. I dont have much, but this is the best that is somewhat well documented so here goes.

Reactions: Old Man Dave
Species: Carp
Size: 30 pounds, 32 inches
Location: Egg Harbor, WI
Description: This fish was speared with an 80cm Rob Allen "TUNA" in 15 FOW. It was shot off of some pilings, Bay side of Door County.
Details: I'm about 6'1", although my friends say Im taller so the fish is longer than it looks. The guy next to me is almost 6'4".
The Story: It was a slow day, but we had been catching glimpses of a monster carp that kept us in the water. After about three hours, winks shot that decently sized drum, but I had come up with nothing. All I was seeing was schools of drum, lots of small mouth bass, and the millions of little round gobies. After four hours almost everyone wanted to quit, most had given up and were sitting on shore. I told myself that I would take three more drops before calling it quits. First drop nothing, SECOND drop...nothing, and then right as I kicked up off the bottom two carp that were about 75% of the size of the baby hippo wed been seeing, came around the end of the pilings. I tried to draw a bead on the bigger one, at a range of about 15'. He swerved off. The second one doubled back into the murky waters. I took another kick off the bottom, and the second carp pulled a u-turn and started comming back at me. I let myself sink slowly, and at about 8' of range I put the spear through the gillplate on one side, and out the gut on the other. She fought for about three minutes before I was able to dive down, and cut her gills out. When we got back out, everyone on the beach was amazed at the size of the fish. I dont know if this will qualify for the HOF, but I figured it was worth a try.

Thanks for posting your new HoF thread here Fleshy. Your 30lb carp is a very nice catch and a worthy entry which will go forward for processing.

The Hall of Fame is most definitely a feature aimed at all DB members from anywhere in the world and for all species caught by spearfishing in both salt and fresh water. I hope some of your Wisconsin mates on this very active DB thread will join you in trying to get their names in the HoF.

The Hall of Fame is filling up fast. Lots of great stories providing some exciting reading.

If you’ve already had a good look through then you might appreciate a new feature on the main post just above the rules where you can find a list of the latest entries with hyperlinks.

Still plenty of chance to look up your old posts and maybe get into the HoF. Just make sure you comply with the rules and give me a shout (PM).

A little tip here. If you want to see all the pictures you have posted go to User CP (top leftish on the screen), scroll down to Miscellaneous and click on attachments and there’s a list of links to your pictures. However, here’s the bit I didn’t realise ‘til recently (although probably everyone else knew) if you scroll down again at the bottom you can click see thumbnails and hence actually see your pictures. If you haven’t done this then give it a try. It’s useful for finding stuff and maybe locating some HoF entries.

Connected to the above as I was too mean or actually too lazy to sign up to be a DB supporter I only had a standard (small) allocation of space for my pic’s. I therefore have deleted lots of old ones to make way for the more recent ones. Unfortunately for me that means I have lost some old pic’s which would have qualified me for entry into the HoF. But the rules say no pic no entry.

Well enjoy reading the stories and ogling the pic’s in the HoF and get entering your old catches before getting out there this year and catching something big enough to be immortalised.

Good hunting you all.

Dave
