hammerhead muzzles? which one?

The 2 hole muzzle is for reef guns w/9/16" bands x 2 and the other is for blue water and longer guns. Their accuracy is equal on both models, but I believe that accuracy is not in the gun, but in the diver handling the gun. Once you get the feel of how somethin shoots and reacts underwater, then you kinda acclimate yourself to it. That is not to say that the accuracy is not there, but anyone who can ride a bike, can ride both a piece of crap, or a brand new model. Look within yourself to buid accuracy and efficiency.

I would stick with the 2 hole (KO Model) for a 100cm gun. The elevated aspect of the other muzzle is to make underwater planing and turning easier when moving in on pelagic fish.

I've used the "Reef" model on a RA 110. I really like the Hammerhead muzzles, they are solid and sleek. Personally I find the accuracy benifits come from the design (open muzzle) vs. a clossed muzzle. I find I shoot better when I can sight down the full length of the shaft. this goes for any open design, not just HH's. I just ordered another pair of reef muzzles, for my RA 70, and a future RA90.

There are 2 issues here. First does having the bands parallel to the spear make the gun more accurate. Second does the bands running parallel to the spear make the spearo shoot more accurately.

I bought an Omer XXV Gold partly to find out. This gun has interchangable components that enable it to be set up differnet ways. There's closed or open muzzle and parallel screw in head bands or underbarrel loop bands.

I doubt that having the loop bands under the barrel at the head makes much difference to the absolute accuracy of the gun except in extreme cases. Maybe multi band or high power untracked guns would see some effect but with my little Omer I didn't.

Is it easier to aim with a loop and open muzzle? Most spearo's think so. However the thing that I noticed was that although I didn't think that I looked down the side of my gun and that I only looked along the spear I found that this wasn't so. With the loop band and no hammerhead the band streched from under the spear at the muzzle/head to above the spear at the reae/handle. I found this definitely threw off my aim. Looking along side the gun even fleetingly meant the angled rubber confusing my aim.

Maybe you get used to this but i found it harder to aim and hit my target. Next season I am returning to screw in parallel rubbers. I do like the idea of a hammerhead and am currently designing a new gun featuring one.
