I'm in the process of repairing a couple of guns for a buddy and don't exactly know what I’m doing. I seem to have both guns to where the trigger mechs work and the spear shaft locks in, but I have not tested them both with bands. Neither of the guns had working bands on them.
One gun is a 28" aluminum barreled mid handle (don't know the brand), and I think it had 3 bands on it. I still have one of the broken bands and it looked like ½” X 16”. The shaft has three different places for bands, so is it best to use three different lengths for the bands, and what lengths? I made up some bands from some “thera band” rubber I found, but when I shot the gun the trigger stuck and it didn’t seem to shoot far or hard. The shafts that he gave me with this gun are really thick too, like 3/8” so I think it would need more power. I think the rubber I used is the stuff used for pole spears, and not guns. Why would the trigger mech stick? I would assume it would be harder to pull if it had more powerful bands on it.
The other gun is a 30” aluminum barreled cannon. It has an end handle. This one didn’t even have old or broken bands on it, so I just need to know how many and what size bands to put on it.
