GOT YA!!!!
If you thought that this was another one of those "off Topic" political rants, well your just plain wrong!
I could care less what you think of the GOP, Democratic, Green, Communist, or any other party. If you simply must post on these topics the Internet has hundreds, or thousands, of such user groups in which this kind of banter is encourgaed.
Deeper Blue has always been my favorite "diving" forum because it has stayed away from this kind of O.T. nonsense that gets in the way or real information being shared. Lately, there seems to be more and more threads that have nothing to do with Freediving at all. All of this not only dilutes the great inforamtion on here, it pollutes the goodwill that members have for eachother.
Now, if you simply must expound upon your political/religous/dietary beliefs on a "Diving" forum there are plenty out there- that's what Rec.Scuba, the Tech diver list, and Spearboard are for.
If you LOVE to delve into politics, there are plenty you can post about on here- AIDA and CMAS rules come to mind first. We can also talk about different rules for spearfishing competitons and still stay on topic- for the most part.
What some on here fail to realize is that this is a truely INTERNATIONAL community on this board that share only two things- the love of freediving and a, sometimes, basic understanding of the English language. Other than that, there are many diverse beliefs and opinions that should be respected to keep this place the number one source of diving information on the web.
This forum is excellent at certian things and there are very specific reasons on why I come here:
- Fattah's in depth analysis of things I'm too scared to try myself- can you say "hypothermic diving system"?
- Latest development of the freediver's safety vest- when and how much?
- Herbert's training regement for constant and dynamic- If I could only do half of what he does.
- Just how do you make a carp taste good?
- A great way to find local divers to train/dive with.
-To find out what records Martin and Mandy have broken this week.
- How do I narrow down the thousands of options that Elios gave me?
Plus many other reasons that I simply don't have space to write out.
What I DON'T come here for is to talk politics- there are other websites I much prefer for that. This is place is an oasis from all of the strife we find in our everyday life and I would hate to see that go away.
