Forum,

Tha family wants to go to Hawaii for summer vacation. The whole family freedives (parents and three teenagers). Does anyone have any recommendations for good outfits, good guides, good boats or locales?

Sincerely, Charles Engles

Hello Charles,

I live in Kona on the Big Island og Hawaii. This island has the best freediving of all the major islands. It gets very deep very quickly here. You can be in 30m+ after swimming for 2 minutes from shore.

You can contact me via my email @ deronverbeck67@hotmail.com
I can suggest some accomidations and such.

Oahu

Sharks cove on Oahu's North Shore(opposite Foodland) is one of my favourite dive spots. Very nice lava caves and swim-throughs. Saw it voted 'top 10 shore dives in the world'. Maybe wouldnt go that far but still the most freindly spot on the N. Shore(provided the swells relitively small)

Have only dived Oahu, but my best dive in Hawaii was a wreck on the West side near Makaha. Forget the name of it but it's very well know. Went there by boat with a party of scubadivers who I hooked up with through the dive shop in Haliewa(N. Shore). Wreck is about 20-28m deep if I remember.

Kauai freediving

Hi folks. I'll be staying on Kauai for a week (until the 17th) and was wondering if there are any freedivers in the area interested in getting together, especially for constant ballast training.

Email me at alein@sfu.ca if interested.
