not sure what sub category this post should go in so here is goes, id like information on Hawaiian slings, more specifically these aspects,
1. how are the bands attached
2. plastic or wood, advantages and disadvantages for both
3. what kind of spear shafts, tips, and what sizes (length and diameter) in relation to the sling
4. good brands, and good websites to find slings and spear shafts

any information would be greatly helpful, and please easy with the jargon, i am still new to this thanks :)

Hi athome, Welcome to DB.

5 ft spring steel, single barb, 5/16th or 1/4 inch thickness is the shaft of choice for Florida and the Bahamas. What do you plan to use it on?

Tape the bands in place and then wrap with cord with a loop underneath the wrap. Insert end in loop and pull under wrap to lock.

Pistol grip handles (with one exception) are crap and screw up your aim.

Wood is best unless you can find some plastic airplane aileron rollers, which are the perfect size and shape. Good luck on that and send me one if you find them.

On slings, buy the pieces and make one to your measure. Store bought entire slings are miserable.

Google Ray Odor in St Pete Florida for shafts.

Austins Dive Shop in Miami is an excellent place to get all the pieces you need.
