Hawaiian Sling success

Some may have seen my post else where but anyway, I had designed a different style of hawaiian sling and decided to make it entirely out of Deer antler, it does sink but I really like the character it has.

Please take a look and let me know what you think. I have used it and had success, my only concern is with my homemade shaft and slip tip, the tip kept falling off but I think i have a cure for that. So overall it was a success.

i received my first hawaiian sling for my 6th birthday and built my current one when i was 18 (I am now 44) so it is doing well. it has a 5/8" aluminium shaft with about 18" of 3/8" 304 stainless running up to the tip which unscrews with a large folding barb and a replacable hardened steel tip. the whole thing unscrews into 3 sections for easy transportation.

the crudest sling i ever used was made from a broom handle and bungy cord which was lent to me by locals on Tavauni in Fiji, for a mid-night hunting trip on the outer reef off the island's north side.

here is a photo of my dad and I taken probably in 1968 the fish is a New Zealand Kingfish Seriola ialandi.I don't think he used his sling for this; I remember his slings tip screwing off the next time he shot one of these and the fish getting away. I was gutted when mine bounced off a Blue shark when I was 10. Thinking about it years later, this scared the beastie away so was probably a good thing.
