Hi,does any body know the exact difference in time between going head down or head up in VWT dive to 100 meter? with the same amount of weight.
Head down should be faster, but how much?
ohh forgot to mention - with a monofin.
Alon.

There are more factors here in play.

For instance, when upright is your fin in a streamlined bucket, or are your legs bent around a bar, having your fin point up?

Also the hydrodynamic design, as well as the line, current, camera, lights etc are all factors.

I trust people like Stavros, Tanya, Herbert can give a more meaningful reply.

O.k
Head up
-Legs bent around the bar-monofin pointed up
-no current,camera or lights

Head down
-going down with a weight belt attach to the line
-monofin on the legs,no current,camera....

which one is faster? safer??
any guessing?

In terms of drag, head-down is faster.
In terms of equalisation, for most people, head-up is faster.

Equalising head down has usually shallower equalisation limits.

BTW what's the depth WR equalising heads down? 123m - by Herbert?

I think it was 124m , stepanek dove 122m with a sphera mask which is amazing but i heard that loic went head down the deepest ever....no idea exactly how much.

I had some dives head down VWT reaching 90m in 1:04 min
92 in 1:11 min and 97.7 in 1:13 so im curious what will be the speed with a sled to the same depth...

Alonrivkind, it sounds like your speed is already nice, but I really have no idea. I suggest you try to find some graphs of previous records to have an idea what speeds others manage. You know the weight limit is 30 KG. I think If you would pour 30KG into an sort of cone, and hold on close, head down, it would very fast.

Also wearing a fast suit helps with these speeds.

I hope some people with personal experience in this drop in.
Maybe Anna von Boetinger can share you some info, she's preparing for a WR VWT with the Only One Apnea dive centre in Sharm el Sheikh.

Dive safe!

Kars

Thanx for the info,
As i can see in Walters dive he reach 100m in about 1:18 min..30 kg?
Anyway i will collect some info about it and will post it here.
Alon.
