your heart rate will start to rise again towards the end of a static apnea, how much and when depends on many things. I can guess if you are getting to 4:10 without contractions you are over breathing before hand though, this is hyperventilating. That is not a good idea.

There are a few freedivers (James Cluskey) over in Liverpool and there is a comp. there in march. Get together and train with them, or better still take a course.

good luck

Yes I'm going to that and I'm doing a course with steve early feb I breath in 70% when I breath hold and don't pack also during my rests I do 10 seconds exhale 5 seconds inhale my hart rate is up thru the whole breath hold

I'm at a similar stage. After just one month your body is probably still adapting rapidly to the new regime. Perhaps try some different holds and see how your body reacts.

For example, try a 1 minute hold, three deep breaths, another minute hold, three deep breaths... I find after about 4 or 5 repetitions I get into a very nice calm relaxed state. Eyes closed, brain and body soft, scan your body for tension and let it release.

On the plus side, that's a really good static time for a month of training - think what you'll be able to do once your heart slows down a bit!

Thank you only problem is I feel relaxed not one part tension my mind is blank and free almost like I don't exist but the hart rate is still up lol but maybe you hit the nail on the head adaption simple answer thanks

Heart rate is relatively high if you do apnea series, specially when recoveries are short (CO2 table). Significant lowering of heart rate occurs only during the first breath hold (so called no warmup) and FRC type of empty lung holds.
But most of the people do not emphasise the impontance of heart rate too much. My best holds have been when my starting (resting) heart rate is higher (~70) and drops quickly (belove 40) when contractions start.
