Hello all from bromsgrove in the midlands

Hi all, I am new to spearfishing, did a lot of scuba diving some years ago but work, kids etc stopped a number of activities, starting to get the boys toys back, purchased a boat last year and it was whilst out on a trip round the bay I came across some speargun hunters. They were at a place called Seaton hole which is near where my boat is moored. Question I have, does anyone know if the area is any good for such activities and if so what type of fish would I be likely to encounter

After years of trying to figure out where the best locations are I came to the conclusion that fish swim all around the coast - so just dive somewhere that appeals to you, explore and learn about the place(s). Often "structure" attracts us and you often find fish around structure. Be warned though, sometimes I will go to a location and it will bereft of fish, yet another time the same place might have a few decent fish & occasionally a massively feeding frenzy of different species. That's part of the appeal, you never know what you might come across.

Thanks Mr X sounds like very good advice, I sure have failed to catch many with a rod and reel, so being a keen deer stalker I figured I'd try with a speargun, if they won't come to me I will go to them
Years ago I did take a hand held spear when scuba diving and we did have some success with plaice and flounders
