Hiya everybody! Been lurking for a few days, thought I'd register. Heck of a nice forum ya have here!

I've been swimming all my life. Well, not exactly all of it. Since I was about 18 months, though. I've always loved swimming underwater to see what I could see. How was I supposed to know I was "freediving" all along??? I've never really been serious about it, though.

Anyway, I live in Michigan. We have a place near Northport, which is North of Traverse City. I just hit up Omena Bay (part of Grand Traverse Bay, which is part of Lake Michigan) this labor day weekend using an old mask and fins that were laying around. I didn't see anything but rocks, sand, and a few smallmouth bass. I could only do about 4m, though (equalize my ears? What's that)? I have a lot to learn...

Hi Sabre, Welcome to DB.

I spent a week diving Traverse Bay in June, Very nice! There are several DBers in that
area if you are looking for a diving buddy.

I don't get up to the bay area much, but when I do I'd definitely need a diving buddy. Nobody I know dives, and I know it's bad juju to do it alone.

Aye, Connor made us all dive in a Hail Storm with purple lightning. It was the week the bay turned over - mid-june - so it was still 47F. Hail was big enough to kill a dog. Connor found a spot where we saw nearly every species of large fish that lives around here.

Welcome from Texas! We sent our small hail up there as Texas has plenty of big stuff (everythings bigger in TX including egos & tall tales).

Don't let Fondueset kid you. I know for a fact that he is the one who rigged the hail storm. He was ahead of me when the lightning got really crazy. Just wait till I get him down to Florida in hurricane season.

I got to admit it was pretty interesting to go diving with hail stones still floating in the water.
