Hi there!

Just took my first freediving course in the Gilis. Great to be here. Can't wait to check out posted pics and take in from the more experienced ;)

See you around :)

Hello and welcome to db.
What a great place to live.
Just had two weeks of scuba diving around Bali, that's some spectacular scenery and sea-life you have there.

Thanks. It absolutely is spectacular. I've lived and worked here for just over a year now but haven't gone scuba diving, though I've been snorkeling around east and west of Bali. Menjangan National Park has a beautiful wall. Where's the best you've been here?

Tulumban and especially the Liberty must be one of the best dives in the world, particularly at night.
But on this trip Manta Point was the highlight, mantas flying in formation five, six and seven at a time, coming so close you could reach out and touch them, circling around, barreling, playing in the bubbles.
It was magical and one of my best dives ever.

I'm assuming you learned from Mike on Gili T? I took his class last year! Cool guy.

After my training in Thailand I might just be headed back there mid Feb. If you'll be around Lombok/Gilis let me know.

Yeap! Mike's a great guy, very relaxed training. Will let you know if I'm at the Gilis/Lombok at that time.

Halo salam kenal. Sy jg di Indonesia. Apakah bulan Maret di Bali bisa spearfishing?

Halo! Dimana di Indonesianya? Wah, saya belum pernah spearfishing. Boleh bagi ilmu? hehe. Sekarang masih musim hujan, mudah-mudahan bulan Maret cuaca sudah membaik. Ada rencana ke Bali? Btw, asli orang Indonesia?

Wah sy ngiri nih ikutan freediving course. Sy asli Indonesia keturunan chinese, tinggal di Bandung. Di bali ada tempat spearfishing yg nggak perlu boat nggak yah?
I'm envy that you have the chance to take freediving course. I live in Bandung. Is there good place in Bali to spearfish?

Hi Dave,

I'm sure there are heaps of sites to go spearfishing. However I've never been out to spearfish, so I wouldn't be the best person to ask. The weather's picking up nicely now. Weekends have been beautiful, but on some nights it still rains a bit. Let us know when you come out to Bali :)

I'll be in Jakarta for quite some time this year. Are kepulauan seribu goor for freediving?

Hi Pingshui,

Yes there are some good spots for freediving. You can try Pulau Pramuka, Semak Daun, Sepa and few other places.

Add a couple of hours drive from Jakarta, there is Pulau Sangiang which is also good.

If you are looking for dolphins, try the Kiluan Bay near Lampung. I never tried it, but a friend is going there early next month for freediving. Kiluan Bay is a dolphin heaven!
