Hi there. I'm new here and would love to learn to free dive and meet/chat with others who do so. I do have my open water scuba certification but honestly I haven't done scuba for years and years. I got certified with my daughter 7 years ago but haven't dove for about 5 years and would need refresher courses before I scuba dove again.
I live on the west coast of BC Canada and our ocean water here is cold. I would love to learn to free dive here so that I can spear fish and collect crabs, scallops, etc. I have seen some youtube videos where people are doing this here and I'd love to be one of those people. I have an off shore welded aluminum boat and I am fishing all the time on our ocean coast line both around Vancouver and all the Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island. There is an abundance of sea life here and we are allowed to dive/spear fish for fish/shellfish etc here.
I am going to thoroughly check out all the tabs in the forums to find info that will help me with what I want to do but if there is any advice people can offer it would be greatly appreciated or if anyone is from my area and would like to meet up and dive together that would be very great too. I have the boat and means to travel all around our coast to do this. I am a 44 married father of two teen girls. My oldest daughter is also interested in free diving as well as she would like to continue on scuba diving.
