Hi everyone, Been freediving and spearfishing for a few years around the beaches an kelp patties near Ventura and Santa Barbara. Found this site a while back and it's been a great source of info and advice just browsing the old threads. I figured it's about time to say hello

Welcome. Come join us in the California-West Coast forum.

BTW, it is confusing to beginners, but when kelp is attached to the bottom, its called a kelp bed. When kelp is torn loose from the bottom and is floating in clumps offshore, its called a kelp paddy.

Welcome from Texas! DB is a great group & always willing to share (check out Jay's jokes & see HOW willing some are to share) - sorry Jay couldn't resist the opportunity. :t
