Hey guys/gals, my name is Dan I am from Carnarvon Western Australia, I am 27 years old and an avid spearfisherman, both bluewater and reef, we have islands situated about 50km offshore here which affordes excellent grounds for bluebone, cod, crayfish, spanish mackeral etc, and bluewater for tuna, mulloway wahoo etc. anyway I thought I would drop a line and say hey.

Gday mate, welcome to DB :)

My mate just came back from Bernia island and cleaned up out there.
I was supposed to go on the trip but couldnt due to $$$ reasons :(
He said its the BEST place he has ever fished and he has fished in a few places lol
Hopefully just after new year we are gonna try and plan a trip there and stay on the island for a coupole days and see what we can catch.

G'day Hairarse, Great name haha!

I'll be up at Steep in a few weeks to see if I can't bring a few of your fish back down this way :t. Have been thinking of doing a trip up to the Carnarvon Islands too. Are they all 50km out, or are there a few closer ones?

Cheers,
Cam

Welcome!!! :friday

Your setup sounds like mine here in Florida with the Bahamian islands a short boat ride away!

:)

Hey guys great to meet you all, the islands off Carnarvon are about spot on 50km to the closest poin which is bernia (I think) Dorre is there too, you will do very well there with just about everything, I am actually in a fishing comp at the moment here called "Carnarfin" (no spearfishing though) but I usually get bored the first fish that gets off so I jump in and use tthe nice big straight hook I have, (cant enter fish with big spear holes in their heads though) will take a camera and upload some pics of fish over the coming week.

keep you posted

Hey carnarvon is great, when I was traveling aus I spent some time there, and pegged two great baldchin gropers...good times.

Good luck on the comp hairy and please keep us posted, i love seeing fish i cant catch :( rofl

All go boys, am leaving 0500 to go to the islands have got bait, rods, food etc, oh and spear guns in case we get a bit twitchy (which when the sun gets up should be about 10:00) going through the gap early on to get some monster baldchin grouper, spanish mackerel, and anything else that presents and then coming carnarvon side for 16 crayfish may stay overnight but is a bit up in the air, we have 0 winds first time I have seen it like that at the moment gusting to 4 knots in the morning and afternoon looks perfect men.
